Kitschy Digitals Carnivale Photo Booth Frames
Shawna Klingerman - Intensit Kit

I loved these cute little photo booth frames.  I took some very old pictures that my son and his step-brothers did in a photo booth many years ago.  It feels so great to get some of these old photos finally documented.

Someone at work asked me to make a graduation card for her daughter and one of my customers had asked for graduation card ideas. So I made up this card tonight and thought I'd post it quick. I'm sure a lot of you have graduation parties to go to in the next couple of weeks. This is that time of year.
Materials used: Cardstock: barely banana, basic black and very vanilla. The card was generated from my digital studio using Go, Graduate digital stamp. This is a very versatile stamp - I also own it in clear rubber. You can use this stamp for either a male or female graduate. I then also printed out an additional hat from the stamp and cut it out and layered it onto summer sun cardstock and cut it out and attached it with dimensionals, a silver brad and silver cording. I, of course, have to always add some bling so I put a strip of clear glitter sticky paper across the middle.
I hope my card inspires you.

My sister Chris sent me some pictures of a bird that she started noticing in her back yard. Last Saturday she found an unfinished birdhouse in her basement and so she took it outside and hung it in her back yard. Within 2 hours, she started noticing this beautiful blue bird hanging out in her back yard and sure enough, both the male and female took up residency in the birdhouse. She ran and grabbed her new Cannon camera and started taking pictures. When she sent them to me by email today, I knew I had to make a digital layout. This is an American Sparrow and the male is this gorgeous blue while the female looks like a regular sparrow - brown tones. So they are now her backyard tenants. This is a template from Basic Grey that I picked up a few weeks ago. Instead of background paper on the layout, I loaded the photo she took of one of the birds sticking their head out of the hole of the birdhouse and lowered the opacity so it makes it look like an overlay almost. Enjoy and find time to play.

Hello everyone out there. Some of you may or may not know how much I am loving digital scrapbooking. And while I love Stampin'Up's My Digital Studio for creating cards, to create scrapbook pages I use Jessica Sprague's site and Photoshop Elements 7. I love to steal away a few minutes to play on it every day if I can. I am finding that I am scrapbooking the ordinary things in my life and it is so much fun.

Anyway, I don't want to get this post to be too long, so I'll just quickly tell you that the layout above is a recent 2 page 17x11 page (8.5x11 each page) template that I purchased last week from Jessica Sprague's site (hereafter JS). This is Template C in case you want to check out her site here. Then I don't know if you paper lovers out there know this, but Basic Grey has started to sell their product in digital form and so I snagged up a couple of their papers which I instantly fell in love with on this layout about Ryan & Laura's new little kitty. This is Basic Grey's Phoebe Angel Island and you can see it here if you want to check out their other digital stuff. If you like Basic Grey - you're going to LOVE their digital items. A little pricey I think, but it's sort of like buying an expensive outfit once in awhile - it never goes out of style and you just love it!

So I'll sign off for tonight - enjoy my layout. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

So here is the last post for the week to inspire you to make your mom or someone you know that's a mom a card. I apologize for the grey band across the bottom of the card. It doesn't show up like that anywhere else but right here, so I'm going to post it anyway just so you can get the idea.

Again using the butterfly punch I punched 4 vellum butterflies, then I sponged each one in a different color. Finally, I ran them through the swiss dot embossing folder. I cut a square to match each color of butterfly and then topped that with a piece of white cardstock that embossed using my scor pal - a very thin line around each square. Wrapping a piece of the blue satin ribbon (from Stampin'Up) around the card I did my little trick where I then came back and tied a piece of ribbon as a bow on the front, first attaching one of the mini circle tags that are now available in the new Occasions Mini catalog. the white dots for each of the butterflies is a white metal foam sticker that I purchased at Joann's. I'm so sorry for the photo, but hope you can get some inspiration from it.

So I tried to shoot you guys a quick post last night and for some reason I didn't save my cards appropriately for the "web" and so I couldn't do it and I fussed with it until finally my brain hurt. So tonight I thought I'd show you 2 cards - same card but one is for Mother's Day and the other is for Father's Day. How's that for a bonus!!

I really like that woodgrain background stamp from Stampin'Up. It is very versatile - I just didn't stamp it as dark for the female version of the card. For the scallop on the bottom of the Mother's Day card I used the scallop punch on both sides of your piece of cardstock. I used a 1" circle punch and the smaller oval punch for the trees. And for the bashful blue oval behind the trees, I cut that out using my coluzzle. For the branches inside the trees, I took the branch stamp from "Trendy Trees" and inked it with a marker - being careful not to get the trunk inked, and then (of course using the stamp positioner) I stamped it twice on the paper and then punched it out I just cut out 2 little trunks using craft cardstock. Actually, little tip to make it more natural, I took a choc chip marker and freehand, drew 2 little thin lines and then cut on each side to make the trunks. I used the smallest oval punch #10 in the catalog for the grass and drew 2 little upsidedown smiles to make it look like the trunk is in the ground. So 2 exact cards - just with different colors. I hope I inspired you. Thanks for looking.

Don't forget, click on the picture, then hold ctrl key down and scroll w/your mouse to zoom in and see the details of each of these cards.

It's "make a difference Monday" in my little world and I would like to make a difference in your world and give you another Mother's Day card idea. This is a digital card using My Digital Studio and one of the Sweet Pea papers, which you could do if you don't have MDS but have the paper pad. Those of you that were able to get the paper, you'll be happy to know that you are one of the lucky ones that got some of this paper from Stampin' Up as they have run out and will no longer be carrying it. I created a text box and typed in my sentiment. Used a silver buckle and ran some pretty in pink grosgrain ribbon through it. I of course glittered it up here and there on the tiny flowers in the image. You may not be able to see that in the photo.

Hi there. The last time I posted it was Friday and I was so excited the weekend was here. Well it was an absolutely gorgeous weekend. It rained on Friday night which was much needed and then rained again on Saturday night. So the weather didn't interfere with any yard work or being outside. And I don't know about you but the rain has made everything green and burst with color. Who would be interested in making a mini album with all of your pictures of your garden right now. Send me an email if you'd be interested and I'll put a class together. The weekend is over and I did have some time to make some Mother's Day cards to inspire you. First I'll show you the card I made for everyone in my club 10.
I wanted to use my Stampin'Up butterfly punch but and so I stamped the squiggly design from a retired set called "By Design" set of 4 onto acetate using a Versamark pad and then embossed the design with silver embossing powder. Next I punched the butterfly out from this design. (*tip: when punching out acetate, put a piece of typing paper on both sides of the acetate so the acetate doesn't get stuck in your punch). I also punched another butter from textured cardstock, melon mambo for the inside to show thru the window. The window is punched using the wide oval. Finally, I put a piece of brown polka dot duck tape on the other side of the card (I found this at JoAnn's) and wrapped a piece of Stampin'Up's white satin ribbon around the center.
So try it out and get creative. You could use this same technique with an acetate flower. I would love to see what you can come up with.
I made several other Mother's Day cards - enough to post one a day this week - so hopefully my schedule will permit me to do this. Check back tomorrow for another Mother's Day card idea.

The weekend is almost here - YIPEE. I thought it was supposed
to rain today so my DH and I did all of the yard work last night. I love the smell of fresh cut grass and the way the yard looks when everything is cut and trimmed. So there he was, riding around the yard on the rider mower with his right hand on the steering wheel and his left hand holding the infamous cup of cappuccino. I quick ran and grabbed my camera and put together a layout using one of Jessica Sprague's One Buck Wednesday Template 7 that I bought yesterday. If you haven't already - sign up for her emails if you are interested in digital scrapbooking. She has One Buck Wednesdays every single Wednesday and you can pick up some great deals. She had Crystal Wilkerson's November 09 paper pack for $1.00 - originally $12.99. That's 52 sheets of digital paper for only 1 buck - you can't beat that deal. On top of that she has a lot of freebies she's giving away starting at 10:00 PM tonight and through the weekend to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day which is on Saturday - May 1st.

It's getting late, so I'll quickly post this 2 page layout so you can see it put together. I would love to hear your thoughts, comments, critique, or what you think of digital scrapbooking. I know I'm hooked, can you tell. Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Is digital scrapbooking like being at work on the computer - NO WAY - it's way more fun than even the worst day at work.

Don't forget, click on the image and then hold down your control key and move your wheel on your mouse to zoom in on the layout.

Sunday, April 25, 2010

So my sisters bought me some digital classes for Christmas from the Jessica Sprague http://www.jessicasprague.com/ website and one that I am trying to finish up is instructor led and it is Type+Writer 1. It's a really neat class and you learn a lot about Photoshop and what to do with it. So this one of the lessons. We completed 6 layous for this one and then the next week we went right into Type+Writer 2. I haven't finished any of those layouts yet. So let me know what you think.

(If you want to enlarge the picture so you can read my journaling. Click on the picture and then hold your control key down and scroll up or down with the wheel on your mouse. Great way to see detail in a project.)

Trish
He everyone. Hope you enjoyed your weekend. Mine was good. I actually love weekends when it's raining so I can play in my craftroom. So I was cleaning up my table when I came across a couple of overlays and forgot how much I liked these. I thought I'd post these 2 photos of cards from the Stampin' Up overlays. I need demonstrate these more often. They sure make a very quick card - but are very hard to photograph. You can still get these before the new catalog comes out. I don't know if they are going to carry new ones in the new catalog or discontinue them completely. Pull them out and play with them - just watch your finger prints. Those can be a bit tricky to get off.

Hi everyone. I will be posting some cards but just on my picasa album. Click on the link below to go to Picasa. In the meantime, I wanted to send a quick post of something really cool that happened today. It was gorgeous outside yesterday and today, so I got a lot of gardening done. Today I was working on the other bed closer to the house when I grated a big pile of mulch and what looked like fur and sure enough, underneath were these little cuties. At first I thought they were baby mice but then Peter ran up from the fire pit where he was burning and sure enough they moved just a little bit and you could see their ears. Now try and keep a dog away from there - that's almost impossible. I turned my back for just a few minutes and she had dug them all out of the hole. I gave her a swat on the butt and covered them back up. There are 5 of them in this little tiny hole. I then proceeded to get some netting and cover this huge bush of tulips right next to them. I mean - salad bar right outside their door. What a feel good find. Have a great week everyone.

Oh happy Monday. I don't do Mondays very well, so I am going to share with you another card I made over the weekend. Whenever one of my club 10 people is a hostess for the month, they receive a pack of 6 cards as a gift from me for being a club 10 hostess. I used to think "who would want a pack of my cards," but I've had so many comments about the card the club 10 customers get with every order, I thought "hey, I'll be they would like more than one card as my way of saying thanks." So here it is.

As you can tell, I really love the Welcome to the Neighborhood paper pack and so it's another card from there, but then I embellished it with the cute little walkway in front of the house and a little grass stamp I had on hand. I'm sure it's from an old Stampin Up but I can't remember which one. I then stamped one of the little trees from "Trendy Trees" and embellished it with a few little rain dots, added a cute little butterfly from the embosslits.

Enjoy!

The weekend is almost over and I wanted to quickly post this card I made over the weekend. I got the Stampin'Up stamp "Thoughts & Prayers" with the big tree that I've wanted since the catalog came out last August. I even have the same tree as a decor' element on my living room wall because I love it so much. Anyway, I was flipping through the Welcome to the Neighborhood paper pad you can earn free until the end of the month and when I saw the paper with the clouds, this idea came to me.
Enjoy!

Sunday, March 14, 2010

One more quick post today. So while I was in the mood for making St. Pat cards, I was looking thru my sticky cuts from Stampin' Up - I think all of us have ordered those at some point and they're sitting in our craft supplies and we forgot all about them. They are #114301 in the current catalog - page 180 - Sticky Cuts Sweet - $8.95.
Anyway, I was looking at stick cut hearts to create a 4 leaf clover when I came across the tree and thought - I bet that would be cute on one of Stampin'Up's little clipboards (#109191 4-1/2x 9" - $6.50 p.185). So I
covered the chipboard with a light green/blue/yellow striped background paper, sanded the edges, painted the top section by the clip in a tan, but I may change that to white paint yet, and then I stuck the tree on the cardstock. I did the tree in sections so I could see where the leaves were placed on the sticky cuts sheet. 3 of the leaves I layered twice onto white cardstock to give them some depth. I peeled all of the top layers of the leaves off and sprinkled them with certainly celery fine glitter (#108796 $13.95 p. 180). I then wanted to differentiate between the color of the leaves and the trunk so I sprinkled old olive embossing powder and embossed the trunk. I wasn't sure embossing powder would emboss on sticky tape, but it worked. Finally I used the Go Green Ala Carte stamp from the Occasions Mini (#117074 - p. 43 - $6.95).
Enjoy - I've gone on long enough. Now go play!
Top Of The Mornin' to all of you. When I was a little girl, my Grandma Ball would call us when we got home from school to see if we had worn green on St. Patty's day. I don't remember exactly how much my grandma really was Irish, but I do remember that my mom always tried to make St. Patty's Day a festive time and would set a special table for dinner on St. Pat's Day decorated with green napkins and she would color our mashed potatoes green and serve a green vegetable. Funny how those little things meant so much to me that they really stuck with me and I did those same things to my son as he was growing up.

So I thought I would share the cards I made this year to ring in the green. And I realized as I was lining them all up to take a picture, that I had made exactly 12 - that must mean something right - maybe I should go buy a Powerball ticket. Anyway, enjoy and hopefully one of them will inspire you to create a card of your own and send it out to someone who loves green. Besides, isn't everyone a little Irish on St. Patty's Day.

Make some time for yourself to play today.

So I thought I would make a quick post to the card asked about the most. "HOW DID YOU DO THAT?" This card was cased directly out of Papercraft Magazine March/April 2010 page 66. As you can see, I blinged mine out more than they did, but everyone that knows me knows that I couldn't call a card complete without a little bling. Also, by sheer accident I wanted to put some sort of flower on the card because I had this cute "bloom" saying and so I opened up my corduroy buttons from Stampin'Up and put a red button on the card, then I thought maybe it would be prettier with an orange brad, so I put that on there and then, I put the prongs of the brad through the holes of the button and whalla (sp?). I cut a stem and punched a leaf and completed my flower. I love this little addition to the card. The other products I used is of course Making Memories adhesive glitter cardstock that I love. Unfortunately I heard that MM was not going to be making this anymore :(. I embossed black cardstock and attached that to a white card base.

I almost forgot to tell you the most important thing - the way I got the petals. These are simply rectangles (cut from Welcome To The Neighborhood SAB paper pack). They measure 2x1-1/2" and round opposite corners with a corner rounder punch. Who knew! The card base measures 6-1/4 x 4-1/2".

Take some time and play this weekend and copy this idea and put your own spin on it.

So here's to Traci who we missed at our card meeting last night. I hope you're feeling better. Card #1: We used a "Design Adhesive" sticker/glue border called Butterfly swirls. You rub the design with a bone folder or something hard edged onto the top sheet of the 2 layers and then you very gently peel off the top layer and place that onto the yellow cardstock. It will be sticky, so make sure you don't touch one of the butterflies with your finger. It is also a little larger than your cardstock, but don't worry about that, what doesn't touch the cardstock won't stick. Then take your bone folder and rub the design onto your yellow cardstock. Gently... pull off the piece of paper just leaving the glue of butterflies. Sprinkle glitter onto the butterflies generously. Assemble card. A piece of baby blue satin ribbon is tied around the top and bottom layers and then a thin strip of pink sugar coated cardstock is glued onto the top of that. The "Laugh" and tiny flowers are attached using dimensionals.
Card #2: the second card we made was a digital card I created using My Digital Studio and then the students "hybrided" it up. Very quick card. The only thing you had to add was a metal white hodgepodge hardware bracket after inserting 2 small green brads. I put a small round dimensional to hold the brads in place and then attached that to the "digital" hodgepodge hardware. We then wrapped a piece of glorious green grosgrain ribbon and taped the ends to the back, right between the "digital" white and always artichoke ribbon. We took the extra little piece and tied a knot around the green ribbon and this way you can slide it to wherever you want to on your card. Finally we stuck a little glitter foam shamrock down on the right hand lower corner. We also layered the digital card onto glorious green cardstock and then onto a whisper white card base.

Card #3: The final card we made was taken right from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. I was running into a bind timewise and decided why not create a card that is right in the catalog and put my own spin on it. Which is what being creative is all about - an inspiration jump off point.
Traci - all of the elements are in your kit and I think the card is pretty self-explanatory by looking at it. The only little hint would be to let you know that the chipboard heart, little flowers and arrow are all attached with dimensionals. The ribbon is attached the same way we attached it on the St. Pat's card. Wrap a piece around to the back and cut off the excess. Then tie a little bow with the remaining piece - tying it only once. If it slips a little tip is to put a little glue dot where you're going to tie it to hold the bow part in place. Finally we layered the swiss dot top onto a piece of melon mambo cardstock and then onto a white card base.
Enjoy .... and always find time to play....

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Hello everyone. The weekend is almost here and I am so ready. What a week. I did have something good happen this week and that is I was able to share My Digital Studio with 3 of my friends and share the same excitement I have, or you could say addiction. Believe me, when I say it's addicting, I am not exaggerating. So thanks for Chris, Traci and Lou Ann for giving me an opportunity to share a new way of papercrafting.

So last night a dear friend of mine came home from work and found her dog had passed away in his crate. As a big dog lover, my heart goes out to her and the pain she must be feeling and sense of loss. She does have 2 dogs, so she still has a dog at home to lay and cry with her while she misses her dear Beauregard. She loves Rhodesian Ridgebacks and Beauregard was her 3rd Ridgeback and now she has Toby left. So inbetween commercials of Survivor I created a card on MDS and I wanted to share it with you.

So you can refer back to this post and maybe re-create it when you purchase My Digital Studio for yourself. I created a 5x7 Portrait Greeting Card - Designer - Summer Home - 5x7 Card 2. The polka dots on the background were actually a tiny little border on the side of the designer card that I stretched out to cover the entire background with polka dots. I think this is what Chris was getting at last night and YES Chris - you can create a swiss dot "effect." The computer still won't physically emboss my card, but I love the sweet little white polka dot on the card. The 3 squares are just blank templates you can drop cardstock into. Remember when you do this, you want to open your cardstock as a page layer and then drag it over the square until the square turns blue and then drop it in and it fills the square. The stitching and staples were from another website where I got a free digital embellishment. Start scouring the web, there are lots and lots of free digital embellishments, paper, fonts and so much more out there free for the taking. All digital elements come "zipped" and you will have to "unzip" all of your digital files. Make a post and let me know if you want more information on that and I'll create a post about it.

Anyway, this is getting long, so one last thing is I wanted to say that the dog stamp is from "Man's Best Friend" and I just mirror imaged the middle one to face it in the opposite direction. Enjoy and I'd love to hear what you think. I'm off to the print to finish up my card using product now.

Happy Friday tomorrow. I hope you find time to play this weekend.
